Based on Facebook ‘likes’, the 24-year old is now the second most liked politician in Singapore – second only to Minister Mentor Lee Kwan Yew.

Seah’s official Facebook page has already attracted over 21,600 ‘likes’ in less than a week, compared to MM Lee’s 54,000 Facebook fans.

This is the first time that online and social media has been officially sanctioned for a general election, as Singapore gears up to go the polls on Saturday 7 May 2011.

Jeffrey Seah, CEO, Starcom MediaVest Group, Southeast Asia commented, "At SMG, we believe in our talent and the diversity of their strengths, and interests in all areas. We generally encourage our staff to explore and thrive in other fields beyond their work and trade."

He said what is more important is that (SMG) staff are constantly contributing their viewpoints and thoughts, and this not limited to just what the agency does everyday through consultations with its clients and partners.

"It is encouraging to see someone like Nicole pursue her dreams and goals in the political arena - this is indicative of the progressive and participatory nature of the talent in our network and industry, where all have a part to play in giving and contributing back to the society at-large," said (Jeffrey) Seah.

(Nicole) Seah is contesting Marine Parade GRC, standing on behalf of the National Solidarity Party. She graduated with an honours degree from the National University of Singapore, under the University Scholars’ Programme. She graduated from Victoria Junior College, Tanjong Katong Secondary School and CHIJ Katong.
