Mediahub launches live content market for emerging markets

BANGKOK - Mediahub Access, an online marketplace that aims to bring media owners from emerging markets together with content producers from around the world, will hold its first live marketplace in Thailand next year.

Mediahub launches live content market for emerging markets

The marketplace will be part of an exhibition at the annual Asia Media Summit, to be held in Bangkok in May 2012. The summit is organised annually as a joint venture between the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and Worldview Global Media Holdings.

Frédéric Alliod, business development manager for Mediahub Access, says the exhibition and market will provide increased opportunities for broadcasters in the smallest markets of Asia-Pacific, such as Fiji and Nepal, to build relationships and gain access to content with production companies from around the world.

Already signed up to the event are the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, TV Spain, and animation specialists Cyber Group Studio.

Yang Binuyan, director of the AIBD, says having an event tailored for emerging markets in a geographical location close to their homes, makes sense for both sides of commercial broadcasting transactions.

“AIBD members are mostly broadcasters from the Asia-Pacific region and due to limited resources, they often face difficulties to reach out to the international market," he said.

The Mediahub market will be officially opened by United Nations Secretary-General Ban-ki Moon, who says media development is a key goal of its UNESCO agency, which helped to establish the AIBD last year.
