Former country heads buying out DoubleClick Asia

HONG KONG: The former country heads of DoubleClick Media Asia have bought out the company's subsidiaries in Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Kevin Huang, former director for advertising sales and network development at DoubleClick Hong Kong, has bought out and rebranded the operation as Pixel Media. In Taiwan, former general manager, Vivian Liu, is finalising the buyout and relaunch as Weblisher, while ex-country manager, Kenny Chung, will acquire the Korea subsidiary and rename it NASMedia.

The management buyout followed a decision by DoubleClick to close the joint-venture media operation after majority owner Asiacontent. com said at mid-year it would liquidate the company.

Huang, chief executive officer of Pixel Media, said DoubleClick Media's assets and client list would be transferred to the new operation.

"We now face the challenge of re-establishing the brand. We will continue to serve advertising agencies and will act as an advertising sales representative for web publishers. Confidence was shaken (with the closure) and we need to focus on rebuilding that."

Pixel currently represents Hong Kong web publishers Next Media Interactive exclusively, the South China Morning Post and MSN for interactive advertising sales. Its clients include Cathay Pacific and PCCW.
