ESPNews debuts on SingTel's mio TV

SINGAPORE - ESPN Star Sports (ESS) has launched ESPNews, a 24-hour dedicated sports news channel for Asian sports fans, on SingTel's mio TV platform in Singapore.

The channel provides highlights, scores, updates and comprehensive sports information and will deliver content from local, regional and international sporting events in a viewer-friendly format.

According to a statement, ESPNews’ on-air presentation will also offer advertisers flexibility in their on-air elements and provide innovative branding and sponsorship placements opportunities.

The channel’s layout includes four main data streams including video, a ‘bottom line’ graphic streaming results and upcoming fixtures, a ‘top line’ graphic providing news updates, and a ‘sideline’ graphic which will provides rankings and statistics.

Launching on SingTel’s mio TV platform is a demonstration of our commitment to serving the sports fans in Singapore and meeting their changing needs. It is also part of our ongoing commitment to delivering the most innovative and compelling sports content to Asian fans across creative platforms.”

The channel is already available in Myanmar, the Philippines and Cambodia and will be rolled out across other markets in the region including Hong Kong and Malaysia in the coming months.

Currently available in English, ESPNews will also be available in Cantonese and Bahasa Melayu at a later date.

In October, ESS shifted a host of sports content to SingTel’s mio TV platform, which bagged the exclusive rights to the Barclays Premier League football tournament in Singapore.
