DIARY: Britneymobile gives MTV Asia Awards a Valentine's Day spin

Batman move over. Here comes pop diva Britney Spears and her Britneymobile.

DIARY: Britneymobile gives MTV Asia Awards a Valentine's Day spin

The scene: the annual MTV Asia Awards at which the region's most-loved pop stars are picked by millions of fans through a variety of voting methods, mainly via SMS and the music channel's website for the event, mtvasiaawards.com.

Who will emerge as the big winners of this year's awards - to be co-hosted by Vanness Wu of Taiwanese superstar band F4 fame and internationally-renowned singer/songwriter Michelle Branch - will be announced in Singapore on Valentine's Day.

But one of the more interesting sidebar events is a 'Drive Britney home' contest. No, no-one will be able to drive Britney anywhere but participants have to choose which of three exclusively-designed Toyota Vios cars is her favourite for a chance to win the vehicle.

Two of the Vios are similar: a white body covered in pink hearts, in keeping with the Valentine theme, and huge MTV logos. The third one has a metallic grey appearance.

Only two Britneymobiles are up for grabs, but the response has been overwhelming, an MTV spokesperson said.

However, if anyone thought there would be any fancy gear in the cars like the Batmobile, think again. They are regular Vios cars right off the assembly line; only their appearance is different, the spokesperson stressed.

However, rumours are circulating that the front passenger seat has been fitted with an ejection device much like what can be found in a jet fighter.

No-one knows where these rumours started but it all began a few weeks ago following reports that Britney married a childhood friend in a secret Las Vegas wedding and then promptly dumped him. Ah, true love knows no bounds, especially around Valentine.
