Burger King hands mainland media to ZenithOptimedia

SHANGHAI - ZenithOptimedia has secured the media planning and buying rights for fastfood challenger Burger King in China, after what is believed to have been a contested pitch.

Mediacom, which has previously worked with the brand on a project basis on the mainland, did not pitch.

While the account is currently relatively small, spend is expected to rise in line with Burger King’s aggressive expansion plans for the China market. Last year, the brand selected a local agency to handle creative, following a review that included two MNC shops.
