According to a statement, the appointments were “in order to support growth, particularly after the substantial new business win of Nokia” and recognise “the growing importance of digital”.

Acharya will relocate from India. Prior to The Media Edge, Acharya was with GroupM where she set up mConsult – GroupM’s marketing communications consulting venture.

Kumar is now expected to strengthen the digital product for Aegis Media in the region.

Ashish Bhasin (pictured), chairman India & CEO Southeast Asia, Aegis Media, said Acharya’s “extensive experience in media will help enormously in continuing to grow the Singapore office and build on the success of our existing clients.”

“Simultaneously, after doing a good job as the Singapore CEO, we need Arun to help us further strengthen our digital and search offering in the region and in key markets such as China.”
