UM Indonesia bags US$8 million in new billings

JAKARTA - UM Indonesia has secured two new business wins: snack-food producer Simba Indosnack Makmur and mobile-telecommunications provider PT Hutchison Three.

UM Indonesia bags US$8 million in new billings

The new accounts will reportedly bring the unit of IPG Mediabrands more than US$8 million in billings. The scope of both accounts encompasses above-the-line channels and digital*.

Founded in 1997, Simba Indosnack Makmur is looking to aggressively expand by introducing new flavors and products, boosting promotional activities and expanding and improving its retail outlets.

The account, worth US$2.5 million, will see UM responsible for the portfolio of brands, which includes Simba Choco Chips, Simba Choco Rillas, Simba Rainbow Hoops, Simba Choco Chips Duo, Simba Tuffis and Turbo.

Atiek Sudirman, managing director of UM Indonesia, said significant potential exists for the brand to cater to demand for healthier food options that are also Halal-certified.

PT Hutchison 3 Indonesia is the second-largest mobile Internet provider in the country, with 54.8 million subscribers.

UM will be tasked with media planning and buying duties for the telco as it seeks to garner a larger share of the growing domestic market. The account is valued at US$6.2 million.

Atiek cited the agency's diverse offerings in digital, research, e-commerce and traditional planning and buying as reasons for the win.
