UPDATED: Stephen Mangham and Gary Caulfield depart; David Mayo moves to Jakarta in shakeup at Ogilvy Indonesia

JAKARTA - Stephen Mangham has resigned his position with Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) Indonesia, just over one month in to his new role there. Executive creative adviser Gary Caulfield will also depart, with newly-appointed President of O&M ASEAN (Southeast Asia) David Mayo relocating to Jakarta to help fill the void.

Mangham had been appointed to the role of group technical adviser for PT Indo Ad in late August, moving to Jakarta and has been in the role for one month. While the agency notes that he has resigned for personal reasons, Mangham has since told Campaign it was because of a failure to reach an agreement on the terms and conditions of employment.

Meanwhile, Gary Caulfield, executive creative director for O&M Indonesia, will also be departing the agency this month. Caulfield has had nine years' experience with Ogilvy in Indonesia and will now take a short break from the industry. Ogilvy is understood to be looking for an internationally-recognised "big-name" creative to lead its output.

David Mayo, who was appointed President of O&M ASEAN as part of a regional management build-up in September, has assumed responsibility for leading its Indonesia team as part of that remit, effective immediately. His new role was originally planned to take effect from the start of next year. It is understood he will now handle the Southeast Asia responsibility from Jakarta for the near future.

He said Mangham, who had been with Ogilvy for nine years, would be missed within the network. “It is with great regret that I have accepted Stephen’s resignation," he said. "He did a great job for us in Taiwan and latterly in Singapore and we will miss him.”

“I am taking over responsibility for the Jakarta office while we search for a new CEO,” he continued. “I will be working closely with the Indonesian executive committee on the management transition and preparing our Indonesian office for the future. We have a strong management team in place who will continue to spearhead our aggressive growth.”

The Indonesian market remains a key focus for Ogilvy. With projections for a significantly growing advertising market there.
