Dentsu opens for business in Sydney

SYDNEY – Dentsu is aiming to expand its business operations in Oceania with the establishment of Dentsu Australia in Sydney.

According to a statement made by Dentsu to the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the wholly-owned subsidiary will open for business from 30 April. The statement said the new office will enable Dentsu to “fully address increasing client needs” in the region.

The agency will be headed by Bob Shropshire as president and chief executive. Shropshire is also responsible for the operations of Dentsu Canada in the same capacity. Emma Hancock, who is currently vice-president and group account director in Canada, will step up to the role of managing director for Australia. The agency will have a total of four staff upon launch.

It is understood that Dentsu will work with Toyota in Australia, although the agency has not confirmed any client names.
