SEOUL - Wain Choi (pictured), former vice-president and chief creative officer of Diamond Ogilvy Korea, is stepping up at Cheil Worldwide as VP and executive global creative director.

Ogilvy's Wain Choi joins Cheil Worldwide as VP, global ECD

Choi will be leading the global creative division at Cheil and report to Bruce Haines, president and CEO at Cheil Worldwide.

“Cheil is such a powerhouse in Korea. The real challenge will be to do the same globally. The only way we can do this is through our work. Then everything will take care of itself,” said Choi.

Choi's creative and advertising career history dates back to 1992 when he first joined Bates following his graduation in Canada. He then moved on as the associate creative director at the country’s largest ad agency Cossette Communications.

Before Ogilvy, Choi worked as ECD at Dentsu Belgium and also VP and group creative director at Y&R Toronto.

Wain is well known in creative circles with notable awards from Cannes Lions, The One Show, Communication Arts, London International Festival, New York Festival and Clio. He was most recently the jury president at the Ad Stars Festival in Korea.

Recently Cheil Worldwide has been making headlines as the agency works to extend its footprint overseas, taking a 49 per cent stake in UK shop Beattie McGuinness Bungay and forming a strategic alliance with Paris-based start up agency Herezie.
