Ian Thubron, president of TBWA Greater China, announced the move, calling Hwang “one of our strongest practitioners.”
Hwang, who began his advertising career in New York more than a decade ago, joined TBWA Beijing as executive creative director in 2006.
With 160 employees, TBWA Shanghai is TBWA’s largest agency in the Greater China region. In 2008, its adidas Olympics campaign won the first Gold for China at Cannes.
“This is an exciting move for me,” says Hwang, “the opportunity to paint on the huge canvas of Shanghai will be stimulating and fun.”
Eddie Wong was reappointed to the position of group executive creative director at TBWA China after Carol Lam's departure in January this year.
