Craigen began his career at Ted Bates in 1984 before moving to BMP DDB Needham in 1990. He was promoted to executive creative director of DDB London in 2003.

Kun-Hee Ahn, the global chief executive of Innocean Worldwide, said: "We have been working towards Innocean being a leading creative agency on a global scale. Now we have Jeremy as a global CCO who can deliver on that vision and help steer us towards achieving our ambition."

Craigen said: "My remit is simple. Make the work better, grow the business. What I love about Innocean is their honesty about themselves and their ambition for the future. It is a great company, headed by great people. And this is exactly the opportunity I have been waiting for. I can't wait to get started."

Bob Isherwood, the former worldwide creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi who joined Innocean as a global creative advisor in 2013, was involved in the appointment.

He said: "I'm very excited about working with Jeremy. It's something we've tried to engineer in the past, but the opportunity wasn't right for him back then. Now our stars are aligned, along with our collective experience."

Following Craigen’s departure from DDB in March, DDB EMEA has appointed Ben Priest, the founder and chief creative officer of Adam & Eve/DDB, as the chair of its regional creative council.

Amir Kassaei, the chief creative officer of DDB Worldwide, said: "Ben is among the greatest creative leaders in the ad industry.

"It is amazing to see how Adam & Eve/DDB became the best agency in the world, and I know that Ben can do great things for all our offices in the EMEA region because of his talent, expertise, experience, personality and values."
