L'Oreal regional media review rolls into Southeast Asia

SOUTHEAST ASIA - French cosmetics giant L'Oreal has launched a review of its media business in Indonesia and Malaysia as part of an ongoing regional review.

L'Oreal regional media review rolls into Southeast Asia

It is understood pitches for the cosmetic giant's Indonesian media business took place last week and a RFP has been sent out for the Malaysian market. Vietnam is believed to be the next market up for review.

The pitch is part of a regional media review that saw Maxus clinch agency-of record in Thailand in January and in India last July.  In Australia, L'Oreal reportedly reappointed IPG's Universal McCann (UM) to its US$50 million consolidated media buying and planning account, following a review initiated in August.

Mindshare won the business in China last October after a pitch against Optimedia.

The brand currently works with Mindshare in Hong Kong where the agency kept hold of the account following a statutory review and pitch against UM, Zenith Optimedia and Carat at the end of 2009. Universal McCann was also reappointed to the business following a review in Japan during June in 2009.
