Takhar started her new role in the Hong Kong office a week ago. Her remit is to contribute to BT’s Asia-Pacific investment programme by shaping BT’s marketing strategy in North East Asia. She will also increase BT's capabilities across APAC to enable multinationals to leverage the growing business opportunities in the region.

Takhar will work closely with Peter Leung, head of marketing for Hong Kong and South Korea at BT Hong Kong. Leung takes care of market development in Hong Kong, Taiwan, PRC and Korea and has full responsibility for BT Contact Centre Service, Voice Ports and Contact Central in these markets.

She will report to Leonie Kemp, acting head of marketing for Asia-Pacific, based in Sydney.

Takhar joined BT as a marketing graduate in 2000. Prior to her new role, she was head of marketing and propositions for sustainability where her key responsbilities were to engage with customers, understand industry trends and launch BT's Global Services Carbon Impact Assessment consultancy service.

Reported in November, BT appointed Mary Kavanagh as its senior regional communications manager.
